NJBD - New Coaches ** Please Read***
Please take a moment to welcome two new coaches to the NJBD swim team - Coach Robert Jenkins and Coach Patricia Todebush. They both come to the team with the desire to coach and make a difference with our swimmers. Having known both of them for many years, We are fortunate to have the experience and skill of both coaches on our team.
In the coming days and weeks, please stop by - before or after practice, and introduce yourselves.
Coach Robert Jenkins
Coach Robert Jenkins is originally from Detroit, Michigan and learned to swim at a very young age with his father's summer swim program. He has trained and competed as a year round USA Swimmer, varsity high school swimmer, and in division 1 college swimmer. He graduated from Florida A&M University (athletic scholarship for swimming and golf) and received a BS degree in Secondary Education and has been teaching for 21 years. He has a Masters in Sports Administration & Management and is very excited to combine his wealth of experience in Education and Sports with NJBD.
Coach Rob has been a swim coach/instructor for over 30 years with experience in High School, YMCA, summer league, and USA swimming teams in Michigan and Georgia. He most recently (2015 - 2017) served as the Head Coach of the Cowart Family Ashford Dunwoody YMCA swim team and Assistant Head Coach of the South DeKalb Family YMCA (2014 - 2015).
Coach Rob moved to Georgia in 2010 and currently resides in Duluth, Georgia. He is married to Kerry Jenkins and the proud father of three wonderful boys, Landon 10, Robert 5, and Jacob 3.
Coach Rob's coaching philosophy is "Pursue Excellence with Caring". Coach with the experience of a Swimmer - the patience of a Teacher - the caring of a Father - the knowledge of a Coach.
Coach Patricia Todebush
Dr. Patricia Todebush was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts and learned to swim off the coast of Cape Cod following behind a boat. She was a competitive gymnast and a certified lifeguard in her youth and combined her gymnastics and swimming skills as a collegiate synchronized swimmer at Smith College. While in college she qualified for the NCAA Synchronized Swimming National Championships all four years and competed against schools such as Penn State, Ohio State University and Stanford. After college, she attended graduate school at The University of Georgia earning her doctorate. While in graduate school she continued to swim.
She is now a University Professor and Department Chair at Clayton State University where her research focuses on student motivation and high impact practices in science education. She has been involved with Gwinnett County swimming for the past 8 years working as a parent volunteer in many different ways including the bull-pen and staging, computer/records coordinator, as the clerk of course, and she spent two years as the co-chair of the Peachtree Corners Waverunners Swim Team. She is also a certified Stroke and Turn Judge and Meet Official for Gwinnett County Swimming. She is currently completing the USA Swimming Coach Certification.
Outside of the pool she is a baseball, basketball, soccer, cross country and cheer mom. She has been a Girl Scout leader for the past 7 years. She is married to Andy Todebush and they have two children, both of whom are competitive swimmers. They live in Peachtree Corners. Coach Todebush is excited to help all of the NJBD swimmers excel.
